The only reason ARM makes no sense to so many is they're ignoring the mission objective.
SLS/Orion can't go to a NEO in situ, so bring a very tiny NEO to lunar orbit.
Thus, ARM makes perfect sense, if (and only if) they are going to use the same mission design to enable SLS to launch a Mars mission. (Currently, Mars is too far away for SLS/Orion to reach it).
